Guitarist & Vocalist Rick Peña's earliest Beatles influence came in 1964 when he saw the movie ‘A Hard Days Night’ in 1964. He was hooked on The Beatles ever since. Rick started learning guitar while he was in Bamberg, Germany in 1968. He started his first band with school mates in Middle School and continued when he returned to the States in 1970. Rick Peña has been performing in numerous bands in the Austin area since 1974 and has continued to this day.
Guitarist & Vocalist Doug Peña took music in earnest in 2000, studying piano and songwriting which took him through music theory and studio engineering. The songs of The Beatles were always present since childhood,
and he began learning to sing and play their music in 2006. While he looks back fondly on the hit music of his youth, for most of it he was drawn to songs from before his time - Queen, Stevie Wonder, Jackson 5, Led Zeppelin, the Kinks, and the Beatles.
Drummer & Vocalist John Powell started playing drums at age seven, when his Uncle gave him a used marching snare and his dad made him a pair of drumsticks out of a wooden curtain rod. From junior high, all through high school, he played in concert band. Along the way, he played in cover bands with school mates. His early influences are: Ringo from the Beatles, Mitch Mitchell from Jimi Hendrix, and Ginger Baker from Cream. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree, and is on the faculty at Austin School of Music.
Scott Broberg has been singing in church choirs more or less since he could stand up. He took piano lessons in his elementary school years, then band (baritone and trombone) in junior and senior high school. He picked up the bass in mid-life, (1996) and played in the church praise band for 15 years. He began working on upright bass in 2010, played with Buffalograss, a folk/country/Americana band, since 2012. As to Beatles music, it all started with Ed Sullivan.
